The South African Translators’ Institute (SATI)

is a professional association that offers a home for language professionals in South Africa and the rest of the African continent. Our mission is to serve the language professionals, protect the quality of language services, and represent our members at all levels. Established on 25 August 1956 as an association for municipal translators, SATI has since developed into a multilingual and multicultural organisation that continues to grow with the language industry.

Our members

Our membership includes any and all inhabitants of the language world: translators, interpreters, transcribers, S.A. Sign Language interpreters, language editors, proofreaders, terminologists, content writers, linguists, creative writers, journalists, indexers and teachers. SATI currently has some 800 members representing all 12 South African and most of the larger world languages.
